Villagers reduce car size and journeys

Mike and Karen downsize:

Following an energy audit with Hilary we realised that our current car, a Honda CRV, was costing a fortune in petrol – we worked out that on a trip to Scotland in May 2005 we had filled up 7 times in 10 days at a cost of £216. We had been considering renewing with a similar vehicle but decided to downsize, change to a diesel engine and ditch the 4WD. Since buying our Toyota Corolla we haven’t looked back.
