Broadband Reception
Posted in News on 11/11/2008 03:30 pm by adminI attended a meeting on Monday 10th November 2008 called by Little Wenlock Parish Council to discuss the “Parish Plan”. One item that arose, related to Broadband reception problems experienced by parishioners. I was able to advise the meeting that I also had had problems with inconsistent connection service, but contrary to the many opinions voiced of there being a faulty BT line to the village, in my case a change in service provider gave an instantaneous and sustained improvement.
During many months of frustrating Broadband supply failure for days and occasionally weeks at a time, I had complained to my Service Provider, who advised me that the problem was related to a poor BT line. I had already ensured that the incoming BT line was connected first of all to the Broadband modem and any telephone land-lines were then spurred subsequently. THIS IS ESSENTIAL. My service provider suggested that I call out BT to check the incoming line, but I would be liable to considerable call out charges if no fault was found.
At this stage I decided to change my service provider to “Talk Talk”
(See http://www.talktalk.co.uk), who supplied a competitive package including national and international land line telephone calls, a modem and up to 8 Mb Broadband connection. On 27th October 2007 I transferred to Talk Talk, and had an immediate and sustained improvement that has continued to the present day.
I hope that my experience has been of some benefit to others in the village who are suffering similar problems. Please add your comments – hopefully this will assist in arriving at a community solution to the problem of Broadband reception.
